Police IG sends over 16,000 Police Officers on election protection duties

In continuation of the preparation for the 2015 general elections, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) MD Abubakar, has sent a batch of 16,691 police officers on promotion course.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba was quoted as saying.

“The officers while on the course are expected to undergo intensive training on election protection duties. This training is part of proactive and comprehensive measures by the Force to ensure an orderly, crisis-free and violent-free election ahead of 2015.

“The course which is concurrently taking place at various Police training institutions nationwide is specially designed to equip the men with new skills in standard operational policing practices, human rights protections, principles of democratic policing as well as rules of engagement in election security” Mr Mba said.
