Sunday Shocker News in Borno and Delta, Church Attacked

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram, weekend, stormed New Marte, Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, where they killed a Police Sergeant (names withheld), and two civilians.

The gunmen also set ablaze the Divisional Police Headquarters, Cocin Church and the residence of the Unit Commandant of the Army. Five vehicles parked in the premises of the police station were also burnt.

Meanwhile, two persons were killed, yesterday, in Ummarari and Gwange wards of Maiduguri metropolis by suspected terrorists.

In related News, hoodlums broke into the Catholic Church in Illah, Oshimili North LGA of Delta State. They stole the Blessed Sacrament, otherwise known as Holy Communion from the tabernacle.

The hoodlums also vandalized the entrance to the tabernacle to gain access to the communion, they also broke into the sacristy and stole sacred books. The bandits who came under the cover of night, made straight to the tabernacle, broke into it to remove the communion before invading the sacristy and carted away the books. A source, which doesn’t want to be named, stated that other materials including cassocks, chasubles, vestments and others were spared.
