Bomb blast rocks Kano.

A blast tore through the heart of Kano last night, leaving scores dead. The bomb went off in the Sabon Gari area of the city, where drinking bars and barbecue spots honeycomb busy streets. Sabon Gari is also a predominantly Christian inhabited part of Kano; milling with residents from the South of Nigeria.

“I heard a loud blast. And there was a lot of smoke. Soldiers came in to cordon off the place and ambulances were rushing people to hospital,” Abdul Dafar who lives a block away, told Reuters.


The masterminds reportedly detonated the bomb after ramming a vehicle laden with explosives into a drinking joint. Multiple car crashes also occurred on the streets as a consequence.

Terrorist sect, Boko Haram, is yet to claim responsibility for the attack at the time of filing this report, but it has carried out a slew of mindless attacks like this in the North of Nigeria in recent times. Boko Haram has also been in the news lately for its abduction of over 200 girls from a secondary school in Chibok, Borno State.
