Federal Government has declared October 1, 6, and 7 as public holiday. October 1 to mark Nigeria’s 54th Independence Anniversary, while October 6 and 7 to mark Id-el-Kabir celebration.

Federal Government, weekend, declared Wednesday, 1 October 2014 as public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 54th Independence Anniversary.

Also declared public holidays are; Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 October 2014 to mark the Id-el-Kabir celebration.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magaji A.G., in Abuja on Thursday.

The statement stated that the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, declared the holiday on behalf of the Federal Government.

It stated Moro congratulated all Nigerians on the occasion, and urged them to build a more united and virile nation that would be the pride of all citizens.
