MTV base infuriates Nigerian Music lovers with All time list

MTV base released a list of 20 Nigerian songs which they crowned the greatest Nigerian songs of all time, to celebrate Nigeria at 54.

This list has made many Nigerian music critics, fans and artistes very angry as the list only acknowledges contemporary Nigerian music from a particular set of Nigerian artistes who are currently making waves.

Many believe that the list which was based on a public vote system,is biased and it doesn’t in any reflect sound musical judgement and was only created to celebrate the Nigerian “leading class” musicians.

Celebrities like Chidi Mokeme and Iyanya have since taken a swipe at MTV for the list.

Actor, Chidi who saw no reason why Fela Anikulapo Kuti was excluded from the ‘All Time’ list argued that the list isn’t credible for leaving out someone as influential as the Abami Eda.

Iyanya took a much more subtle approach by questioning on twitter why his viral hit song, ‘Kukere’ didn’t make the list.

Scandalous rapper Eedris Abdulkareem also took to Twitter like his colleague Iyanya in a rant.
 
Eedris who could not hide his annoyance, resorted to raining curses on the entire MTV base company and everyone who contributed to the production of the list.

He voiced out his anger via his twitter account saying; “where are the fela classic ever green songs where is nigeria jagajaga where is mr lecturer where is african china… mtv is a fraud ubanku… I would like to say that from the director of research mtv nigeria and all that made the selection of the evergreen songs may GOD punish u”
