After losing out on the La Liga player of the year to Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi has also lost the Barcelona Player of the year award for 2013 – 2014 season to fellow Argentina player, Javier Mascherano. The former Liverpool player, who was truly outstanding in his new Central defence role with the Catalan club, was awarded the ‘Memorial Aldo Rovira’ award on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, in Spain.
