The Niger Delta Development Commission has said that it will be organising a week-long workshop for citizens in the region in preparation for the 2015 general elections.

A statement by the commission on Thursday, said the series of workshops, scheduled to hold between December 5 and 12, are aimed at “preparing, equipping and empowering the people of the Niger Delta for a peaceful and optimum participation in the upcoming 2015 elections.”

The workshops with the theme “Citizens Responsibility: Towards a peaceful 2015 general elections,” will hold in Rivers, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo and Ondo states, the statement added.

It explained that the NDDC embarked upon the initiative “in order to effectively fulfill the demands of its mandate in today’s challenging governance.”
