My Dad has forbidden me to Marry My Fiancee because He is Igbo

Okay this is the story of a friend and she is asking what she should do? In her own words, here is the story

My name is Mabel and from Ekiti State, at least that's my Fathers hometown though i Live in Akure Ondo State with my Mum because my Dad and Mum are not living together anymore (Long time issues). My mum and dad are from the same town anyways so they are both Yoruba.

I fell in love with my Guy when he came to serve in Akure during his NYSC days and we grew on each other and knowing we are from different tribe (He is from Akwa-Ibom), we believed what we had was strong enough for us and thus wen he (James) proposed to me, I literally shouted YES. okay so now the ball has gone to the Parents goal post to let us go ahead in marriage and while everybody is ready to take a bend My Dad is the leader of NO gang.

His last words were like "He will never give her daughter to the Tribe talk less of the person", My Elder have been to him to see reasons and he even swears if we go ahead without him, he is not giving his blessings to it and we should count him out of it. James father was reluctant at the beginning but James talked him out of it. Now that my Dad is becoming adamant, He wants to know my dads decision to decide his next step (which is normal) but now the whole story is getting to me.

I am becoming very angry with all of this and i am thinking of taking drastic steps if they don't concede to it because this is my life, not theirs...James has just told me to keep it cool and that it will all work out. I really wish i had what to do to make these man see reasons or leave me alone sef.
