Lobatan: Senator Adeyemi blames civil servants for poor budget implementation

Against the backdrop  of  the blame being heaped  on the  presidency  over  poor implementation of the annual budget, Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Capital  Territory (FCT), Senator Smart Adeyemi, has disclosed that instead of blaming the presidency, the civil servant who implements the budget should be held responsible for the failure of the budget.

“The obstacle behind the budget implementation is not the presidency, as it only prepares and presents to the legislature. The real problems are the civil servants who implement, and they have not realised that budget implementation in any nation is attached to needs and aspirations,  which are backed up by  value system of the country,” he said.

He explained that principles of budgets of developing nations must not be patterned after those of developed nations. Source
