President Goodluck Jonathan will on Saturday lead the flag hoisting ceremony for the 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012.

The event, which holds at Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere Lagos, will have the President joined by the 36 state Governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

According to the Secretary General, Local Organising Secretary, Kweku Tandoh, the event symbolizes the participation of all the federating units that make up Nigeria in the forthcoming 18th National Sports Festival.

“Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State would be hosting Mr. President and all the other state Governors at the flag hoisting ceremony. The significance of this is to confirm the participation of all the states and to show that the festival is principally about the unity of Nigeria as one entity,” Tandoh said.

He also said that over 11,000 athletes are expected for the sporting fiesta from across the nation. Source
