Boko Haram Denies Killing Major General Shuwa

Boko Haram, the Islamic sect, which has unleashed a reign of terror on Northern Nigeria, has denied its involvement in the killing of one the country’s civil war heroes, Major General Muhammadu Shuwa.

Shuwa, alongside his military aide and an unidentified person, were shot dead by gunmen at his residence in Maduguri, the Borno State capital, on Friday.

The retired army general was buried in an emotional ceremony at the Gwange Cemetery in Maiduguri, the next day.
The gunmen were said to have disguised as guests who had come to pay the usual Friday homage at the general’s residence and opened fire on Shuwa and his guests.

But in a rebuttal yesterday, the Islamic sect called on the authorities to fish out Shuwa’s killers, stating that it had nothing to do with the killings.

Boko Haram also distanced itself from the killing of another associate of the immediate past governor of Borno State, Alhaji Mohammed Flawana, a renowned businessman

The sect, in a phone conference with journalists in Maiduguri by its new spokesman and one of its major commanders, insisted that it was not responsible for the killings and warned those putting the murders at the doorstep of the sect to desist from doing so Source
