Man arrested for raping 5-year-old girl in Osun

A young man, name withheld has been arrested by the police for allegedly having carnal knowledge a five-year-old girl in Osogbo, Osun State Capital.

It was learnt that the man reportedly defiled the infant around 6:30 a.m. near Salvation Army Primary School, Oke-Fia area of the city during the weekend.

According to the victim’s mother, she left her daughter in the room to fetch water from the next compound only to return and caught the suspect raping the girl.

She raised an alarm, which attracted other neighbours, who intervened and assisted in apprehending the suspect. The heinous act was later reported to the police and the little girl was taken to Osun State Police command clinic for medical attention.

Osun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Folasade Odoro, who confirmed the incident said that the victim is currently receiving some medical treatment at the hospital, while investigation is already on over the incident. The police boss advised parents to always ensure the security of their children/wards at all time. DailyPost
