Secretary to Federal Government says FG spent N25 billion on floods in 2012

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim on Monday said the Federal government have spent over N25 billion from the ecological funds on the recent floods that ravaged the country.

Mr Anyim disclosed this during an investigative session by the House of Representatives’ committee on Environment on seventeen ecological fund projects which commenced in 2006 and is still ongoing.

The SGF said he believes the 17 projects were poorly conceived and agreed with the lawmakers that the projects should be reviewed before a decision is reached on their viability.

He said no new ecological fund project had been embarked on by the federal government except for the critical intervention to assist states address the devastation caused by the flood.
