Alan Shearer, then C.Ronaldo..Would Van Persie write History too?

One more goal in the final fixture (today) of the season at the Hawthorns would see the Dutchman equal the Barclays Premier League's all-time goal record in a 38-match season.

Blackburn Rovers striker Alan Shearer scored 31 goals in the 1995/96 campaign while Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo matched that feat in 2007/08.

Van Persie as been sensational this season, a form we may not see all the time but we all know he is a great player. The question is will that great turn great today with just one more or two goals?

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has scooped the Golden Boot Award for the 2011/12 Premier League season, beating Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero to the top spot.

The 28-year-old forward has received the award for the first time in his career, along with 30,000 pounds to be given to a charity of his choice.

Van Persie's 30-goal haul has matched that of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in 2003/04, and gives him his third accolade in recent weeks after he took both the PFA and Football Writers' Player of the Year awards.

The Dutchman has been key to the Gunners' success this season, scoring several vital goals which have secured Champions League football for the north London side. 

At least if Arsenal didn't win a trophy, Van Persie helped to boost the Moral of the Arsenal FC Club by winning the boot
