Photos: One dies as car rams into a stationary lorry

One person died and three injured after a Lexus EX 350 Saloon car with  registration number APP 544 EH ran into a stationary fully loaded lorry with  metallic scraps at Magoro bus stop, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in ward  Ikeja on Saturday, December 3. 


According to a statement on Lagos Emergency Management Agency  Facebook page, preliminary report by the ERT at the scene of the  incident revealed that the accident resulted to death of a middle aged  man, while three other persons in the car sustained multiple injury. 

"This prompted the immediate activation of the agency's ERT to the scene  of the incident. The  dead victim identified as Lere nicked named as (swagger) was extricated  by the Agency's  Emergency Response Team with the use of light duty  equipment from the trapped car and was  later taken away by the family  members who rushed down to the scene.

"The injured victims were   also immediately taken by LASAMBUS  to Gbagada General Hospital for  necessary medical attention, The broken down trucks, including another  loaded with insecticides were removed after a regorous operation with  the of the LASEMA Response Unit  heavy duty  machines such as super metro, crane and fork lift and handed  over to Nigerian Police men from Shasha for further investigation"

   The Agency's ERT, LASTMA officials,  men of the Nigeria Police Force  (Shaha Division) Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, National  Emergency Management Agency and FRSC were responders at the scene of the  incident.

 The General Manager LASEMA Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu  advised vehicles owners and drivers especially articulated trucks  drivers to always ensure safety signs are place at strategic locations  of broken down vehicle to avoid loss of lives and man hours loss  associated with accident such as this and most times characterised with  heavy gridlocked and man hours losses.
 The GM also noted that the affected trucks were said to be  over loaded leading to broken down of the affected  trucks.
 He however said that proper investigations would be conducted by security operatives to avert future occurrences.
