Vice President Namadi Sambo on Friday in Abuja urged Nigerians to continue to pray for peace and progress in the country.

Sambo made the call after a Special Juma’at prayer at the National Mosque, Abuja, to mark this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, which comes up on Jan. 15.

He urged Nigerians to pray for the gallant men and women who laid down their lives in the service of their country.

``Today, we had a national prayer for our lost heroes and brothers and sisters; we prayed Almighty Allah to grant them Aljana Firdausi.

``We should continue to pray for peace and progress in Nigeria and this is the time that we all, as Nigerians, should come together and support this administration for the success of our Transformation Agenda.”

The special prayer was led by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Sheikh Musa Mohammad.

Present at the occasion were some service chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, heads of some paramilitary establishments, some members of the Federal Executive Council, other notable Nigerians and thousands of Muslim faithful. Leadership
