INEC Threatens To De-register ANPP
« on: January 31, 2013, 01:41:59 PM »

The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) may join the list of proscribed political parties in the country if it fails to satisfactorily explain to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), why it is flouting the 1999 Constitution.

LEADERSHIP gathered that INEC was threatening to withdraw the political party’s registration certificate over a technical matter concerning change in party constitution as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.

In a letter dated January 28, 2013 signed by the INEC’s acting secretary and addressed to the ANPP National Chairman, Ogbonaya Onu, the commission asked the party to show cause why it should remain to function as a political party having flouted section 222(b) of the 1999 Constitution.
