The Nigerian Electricity Power Regulatory Commission (NERC) proposal to increase electricity tariffs from June 1, 2012 has generated hostile reception from stakeholders and consumer advocacy groups.

We have been on this road before and we are still there, For me, I don't think Nigerians are complaining really because of the Tariff increase but i believe it is the lack of the power we are paying for. I mean, Just last year the tariff was increased and for 2 months this year, I had an accumulated 36 hours of light, this is disheartening.

NERC or the government can complain that Power is not cheap in developed countries but people in those countries pay for it because they see it and have it.

Yes, Prepaid Meters makes those who have it pay for only what they use but what about the self-power generation cost one incurs every month (I better Pass my neighbor every night @ N500 is N15000 without Generator Servicing and Oil oooo)

My submission is simple and i think i speak a lot of people's mind, No problem if you increase the tariff if its used to generate and provide the people with the power needed.

Its Just what we  - They get more money, they embezzle it!!!

Don't tell me with this crappy electricity supply they are still planning on increasing the tariff, if the supply is more stable(@ least 20hrs a day) No problem let them go ahead and increase it, we will all just have to divert our petrol money(for gen) to PHCN.
