Lagos State public service is set to blaze the trail as it starts weekend work beginning from first Saturday in March 2013. All over Nigeria, public services and government offices are opened to members of the public Monday to Friday, while weekend, Saturday and Sunday, are observed as rest days.

But Governor Babatunde Fashola speaking on Tuesday at an event to mark his 2,100 days in office said the state public service has concluded plans to start Saturday work in order to serve the public better in some critical areas of need. He listed such areas to include transportation, lands and physical planning.

Against this background, therefore, he said the Ministry of Transportation, the state Land Bureau and the Ministry of Physical Panning and Urban Development will be on duty from this Saturday. - News24
