He is "President Emeritus" - Jonathan lauds Obasanjo
« on: March 06, 2013, 10:20:51 AM »

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday described Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as President Emeritus for his outstanding legacies while in office between 1999 and 2007.

Jonathan spoke through his Chief of Staff Mike Oghiadomhe at the 76th birthday celebration and book launch of Obasanjo. He said the former president "is truly our father and Elder statesman. Your performance is unusual feat. Mr. President who is unavoidably not here share in your joy today as you mark your 76th birthday.

"We want to you to continue to contribute to the development of the country and be more active as you were doing your days as a soldier."

In his response, Obasanjo said the last verdict of his eight-year rule as civilian President has not been given, as those who should speak are still silent. He said he would continue to serve Nigeria with all commitment and dedication till he breathes his last. http://allafrica.com/stories/201303060489.html
