Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Monday in Ibadan inaugurated 10 buses for use by workers and students within Ibadan metropolis.

He said that the 56-seater buses would be used free by workers and students to and from work places and schools respectively.

The governor said the government considered the welfare of workers as a top priority, noting that the free bus service would reduce the transportation problem faced by workers and students.

According to the governor, the volume of traffic on the roads will reduce as workers who have private vehicles can now take advantage of the service.

Ajimobi promised that the scheme would be extended soon to other parts of the state, adding that the government planned to add 90 buses.

He said the government was also working out a new salary structure for civil servants that would make them the best paid workers in Nigeria by the end of 2014.

The governor commended the workers for what he called improved services provided since the inception of his administration in May 2011.
