STILL reeling from the recent attacks that claimed many lives, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State was thrown into crisis on Monday as another violence broke out in Zango village in the council area leaving no fewer than twenty seven people dead.

A source close to the local government revealed that the violence broke out at about 4:00 p.m. on Monday when a group of youths attempted to attack Wase town but were repelled by the community’s youths and vigilante groups.

It was learnt that the youths later regrouped to enegage the vigilante group, leading to open confrontation where dangerous weapons were freely used, leading to the death of 27 people while scores of others sustained injuries.

A member of a Community Development Association from Yelwan Shendam, Abdullahi Danbaba, who spoke on the incident said he narrowly escaped the attack while on his way to Yelwa.

A Tarok traditional ruler, Ponzhi Kumbwang of Wase Local Government Area, Jessey Pyenkwam, told Newsmen  that he was told a Tarok settlement had been razed completely.

He said: “It’s sad that this crisis has taken this turn; it is even more pathetic that it is being seen as a Tarok-Fulani confrontation because both communities need each other.” http://tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/component/k2/item/9217-another-27-killed-in-plateau
