SAN FRANCISCO, April 09, (THEWILL) – The four detained journalists in the employment of local daily, Leadership have been freed by the police force.

Their detention was greeted with outrage from civil rights groups, the journalists union and the press.

The police released two of them last night and released another two Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Chinyere Fred-Adebulugbe, Tony Amokeodo, Chibuzor Ukaibe and Chuks Ohuegbe were detained on Monday after questioning by the police force in Abuja following a news story published by the newspaper on April 03, 2013, titled: "Outrage Trail Presidential Directive on Tinubu, APC", with a sub-title captioned: “Bromide of the Presidential Directive.”

The journalists were detained following their refusal to disclose the source of the information contained in the report.

The police investigation into the news report followed the Presidency’s claim that the document referenced in the story was forged.
