Amnesty: Tinubu to Jonathan "Do not offer Blanket Amnesty"
« on: April 22, 2013, 07:15:16 AM »
A former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, has advised the Federal Government against offering blanket amnesty to members of terror groups, saying the process should be selective.

Tinubu, while addressing newsmen in Ado Ekiti after he and the National Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Chief Bisi Akande, paid a condolence visit to Governor Kayode Fayemi, at the weekend, said the process should include some and exclude some others.

According to him, there should be a process to find a way to compensate the victims, adding that “those who are dead, we cannot do anything about that, but those who were injured, those who have become widows or widowers, we cannot bring their husbands or wives back. Those pastors who have been killed, you cannot bring them back.

Jonathan is playing politics with Boko Haram —CPC
The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has accused the Presidency of playing politics with national security and the Boko Haram sect with an eye on the 2015 general election.

The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Rotimi Fashakin, accused the Presidency of deliberately playing up security fears with a view “to using unconscionable schemes to delude, confuse and over-awe the citizenry ahead of the next general election in 2015.

“The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) is aware that the pre-eminent desire of Nigerians under this nation-space is security, which, under this PDP-led regime, has been an elusive phenomenon. This is sadly so because the Jonathan-led regime prefers political profiting from the menace of insecurity to obliterating the scourge from the nation’s landscape,” the statement said. - Tribune
