Elder statesmen and former Governor of Borno State, Group Capt. Mustapha Amin (rtd.) is dead.

Amin died on Wednesday morning in Kaduna State.

Dailypost gathered that funeral prayers for the late Amin will hold this afternoon at Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna in accordance with Muslim rites.

The late Amin was the first Governor of Borno State; he served from March 1976 to July 1978 during the Military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo. This was after North-Eastern State was divided into Bauchi, Borno, and Gongola states.

He is remembered for his attempt to stop desert encroachment, by imposing restriction on tree cutting permits.
