65 fake pharmaceutical stores and 66 illegal clinics sealed in Ogun

The Ogun Commissioner for Health stated this on Wednesday.

The Ogun State Government has closed down 66 illegal hospitals and 65 fake pharmaceutical premises operating across the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Olaokun Soyinka, stated this on Wednesday at the Ministerial Briefing to mark the second year in office of the present administration.

Mr. Soyinka said the discovery was made in the last one year, and the culprits behind the illegality would be prosecuted to serve as lessons to other criminally-minded people.

He said the illegal clinics were located in Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, Sango/Ota, Akute, Adiyan, Agbado, Ibafo, Mowe, Owode-Egba, Ilaro, Oja-Odan and Abeokuta.

On the sealed pharmaceutical premises, the commissioner informed that the authority organised the public burning of unwholesome expired drugs worth over N1.5 million at the new Kuto garage.

He added that, this was done in the presence of the state officials of the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria(PCN) and also NAFDAC officials in Ogun State.

He said the state government established the first modern prosthetic limb service, which was inaugurated in state hospital, Abeokuta, where prosthetic technicians were trained in the assembly and fitting of the limbs and materials for the manufacture of at least 500 artificial limbs donated by Rotary Club International.
