State of Emergency after setting up Amnesty Programme - FG must be confused

Member representing Jos East/Jos South in the House of Representatives, Mr. Bitrus Kaze, has said the state of emergency declared in the states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe by President Goodluck Jonathan is an indication of the inability of the Federal Government to handle security issues effectively.

He said it was also an indication that the Federal Government did not have faith in the Amnesty programme for insurgents.

Kaze, in a statement in Jos on Wednesday, therefore called for the dismantling of the amnesty committee as it would no longer serve any useful purpose.

The lawmaker, nevertheless, commended the President for taking the action to protect the lives and property of the citizens.

He said, “When in 2012 President Goodluck Jonathan declared emergency rule across four states and more specifically in some local government areas, including my constituency, we in Plateau (State) promptly declared total support for whatever steps the Federal Government took in restoring peace and order anywhere in the country.” http://www.punchng.com/news/declaration-indication-of-confusion-rep/
