Man charged to Court for killing brother with Charm

A 32-year-old civil servant, Ismaila Ahmed, was on Monday arraigned before a Lokoja Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly killing his younger brother, Iliyasu Ahmed, with a charm.

The accused who resides at Inoziomi quarters in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State was charged with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide, offences contrary to Sections 97 and 224
of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor, Samuel Ikutanwa, told the court that the accused on October 27, 2012, at about 6.30pm allegedly beat up the deceased with a ring believed to be a charm, causing him to slump.

”The deceased, Iliyasu, was involved in a fight with one Buhari Abdullahi (now at large) and the accused, in a bid to separate the fight, beat his brother with a charmed ring and he slumped and died,” the prosecutor said.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges when it was read to him while the prosecutor urged the court to remand him in prison custody, saying that investigation into the matter was still on-going.
