Edo State Government, Monday, resolved with security agencies to demolish any building used by criminals to harbour kidnap victims in the state.

The decision was reached at a Security Council meeting at Government House, Benin City.

Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Foluso Adebanjo, said: “The council has resolved that any house used for kidnapping purposes will be demolished.”

Flanked by Mr. Bakori Tukur, the state Director of Department of State Security and representatives of Brig-General Pat Akem, Commander, 4 Brigade and Air Commodore Umar Atiku, Commander, 81 Air Maritime Group, Adebanjo said: “We have arrested many armed robbers and kidnappers and they are being interrogated.

“If you consider the calm in the state, it is as a result of the efforts of the security agencies. The state will not be safe for armed robbers and kidnappers, either they repent or leave the state because we have resolved to make Edo State very comfortable for law abiding citizens. We will not allow criminals to take over this state and that is our pledge to the people of the state,” he said
