Fake Army Officer nabbed and taken to Court

A 25-year-old man, Henry Nkwuocha, was  on Tuesday charged before an Umuahia Magistrates' Court  on a two-count charge of alleged impersonation and illegal possession of army uniform.

The Prosecuting Police Officer, Sgt. Azubuike Udo, told the court that the accused on Feb.7,  at Obohia, near Aba, was found wearing Nigerian Army uniform and pretending to be an army officer.

Udo stated that the accused on the same date and place had in his possession a box containing three military caps, three army camouflage trousers, five shorts and two pair of boots all of which he could not give satisfactory account of.

Udo said that Nkwuocha’s act violated Sections 109 (a) and 430 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap C 38 Laws of the Federation, 2004 as applicable in Abia.

The Defence Counsel, Mr  I. E. Muonalu, appealed to the court to grant the accused bail on liberal terms.

In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs Elizabeth Kalu, granted the accused bail and adjourned the case to July 16 for further hearing.
