Panic in Anambra as petrol tanker explodes

A petrol tanker, on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, burst into flames in a mechanic workshop at Amawbia bypass, along Enugu -Onitsha expressway in Awka South local government area of Anambra State.


               
           
               
                   

The explosion has led to panic among residents and motorists in the state.


               
           
               
                   

According to The Nation, while the fire is still raging, security agencies have deployed their officials to the area to put out the fire.


               
           
               
                   

Anambra Police Commissioner, John Abang, is reportedly at the scene of the incident.


               
           
               
                   

While casualties cannot be ascertained at the time of filing this report, the state Fire Service department has been contacted to put out the fire.


               
           
               
                   

This incident arrives barely three months after a tanker explosion in the state claimed the lives of five persons, including a woman and her child.


               
           
               
                   

More so, no less than 100 shops were razed, and goods such as clothing and electronic appliances were affected by the explosion.
