Moyosola

A former police officer in Ondo state is on the run after it was reported that he attempted to kill his wife, Moyosola, by inflicting a 12-centimeter machete cuts on her head.

On Thursday, the Ondo State Police Command began a manhunt for Tajudeen Adeniyi, 38, who is now wanted for questioning.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Wole Ogodo, added that the command was on his trail.

“Policemen are on the trail of the man. Efforts will be made to arrest him and ensure that he is made to face justice. However, the injured woman is responding to treatment,” he said.

The Punch report:

Moyosola told PUNCH Metro on her hospital bed that the man, who she said abandoned the home for another woman since November 2012, invaded her apartment located at the Oke Jebu area of Akure around 11.50pm on Wednesday.

She said, “My husband forced the door of the room open with mortar, attacking me with cutlass, bottle and club.”

She alleged that Adeniyi, who invaded the house with two other men, inflicted several cuts on her head and neck.

She added, “As he was attacking me, I attempted to run for my life, but my husband pursued me. I ran for some meters before some okada operators (commercial motorcycle riders) assisted me.”

Moyosola said she did not know the reason for the attack. She, however, explained that her estranged husband had abandoned her and her four children for another woman. She added that the development forced her to take the children to Ogotun-Ekiti, her home town

Her physician, Dr. Matthew Adeyeri, said she had about 12 centimetres cut on her head, adding that it was sheer providence that made her survive the attack.

He said, “If the cut inflicted on the woman’s neck had been as deep as the one on her head, she would have died before getting to the hospital.”
