As the warning strike called by the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) enters day two, the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has assured that it has adequate stock of petroleum products.

The Corporation said that it is doing all it could to reduce the impact of the disruption on the supply of petroleum products as result of the NUPENG strike.

In a statement issued by the Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, the Corporation said  while it is working with relevant stakeholders to ensure quick resolution of the issues, it has in stock over 32 days sufficiency of PMS and other petroleum products and therefore has asked the public to refrain from panic buying or hoarding of petroleum products.

NUPENG had directed all its members in depots and branches to stop loading petroleum products for the next three days.

The union is protesting the alleged refusal of the National Association of Road Transport Owners to implement the signed collective bargaining agreement with the petroleum tanker drivers, the poor state of roads across the nation and the ill-treatment of their members by some oil companies.
