A Glasgow-based architecture company has been selected to build an African University of the Creative Arts in Lagos.
The African University Of the Creative arts will be designed by  Stallan-Brand. The school is expected to have 15,000 students upon completion.
The University which will specialise in teaching art, architecture and design, textile, fashion and performing arts, will be built with private funds and contributions from the World Bank.
The board will also explore getting significant corporate sponsorship and endorsements from black celebrities and icons like Beyoncé and Will Smith.
The project is led by entrepreneur, Ejemen Ojeabulu while the board has Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka as its chairman.
Stallan-Brand’s design director, Paul Stallan, who will be in Lagos today to inspect the proposed site for the school, said that the agency had picked up the work through its education specialism, which currently includes designing schools in South Lanarkshire.
“The arts context in Africa is not really celebrated for its achievements, so this is a hugely exciting project,” he said.
The first phase of the school is to open within three-and-a-half years, with slots for 2000 students, while the whole university should be completed in 10 years.
