Reject Post-UTME results, ASUU orders members in Universities

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has urged its members in schools that conducted post-UTME exercises during the ongoing strike to reject the results and admission of candidates.

The Union said this in Strike Bulletins fiveand three signed by its National President, Dr. Nasir Isa.
The bulletin, which was made available toour correspondent on Monday evening, recommended that members who participated in the exercise should be queried and reported to the National Strike Coordinating Committee.

The bulletins read in part: “Members are hereby mandated immediately to query members who have broken the ongoing strike by participating in post-UTME screening, attendance of meetings including Council meeting, retreat of Governing Council in Abuja etc. A copy ofthe query should be sent to NSCC.

“Our union insists that post-UTME screening is, for all intents and purposes an examination. Our members through senate must reject admission of studentswith such examinations that have not been appropriately supervised by academics.”
ASUU also accused the National Universities Commission of distorting the strike by threatening Vice-Chancellors of Universities with accreditation while the strike is on.

He added, “Prevail on our VCs to resist the antics and gimmicks of the NUC Secretary. Do not be used to embark on any sham accreditation during the periodof the national strike. Our union will do everything possible to nullify and such accreditation conducted within the period of the strike.
