Buhari Government Is Aiding Criminals – Sunday Igboho Followers Join #EndSARS Protest In Oyo

Supporters of the detained Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho, have joined thousands of youths protesting in Ibadan, Oyo State, as part of the commemoration of October 20, 2020 #EndSARS protest.

The Igboho followers on Wednesday demanded release of all detainees of the protest in 2020, and chanted solidarity songs amid the heavy presence of the security agents.

Youths who gathered at the Iwo Road interchange around 11am peacefully walked down to the Agodi Secretariat where they converged to meet the governor of the state, Seyi Makinde.

SaharaReporters observed that the protesters marched through the major streets of the state capital, Ibadan.

Chanting “EndSARS now” with placards of various inscriptions like; “EndSARS, government is aiding criminals”, “Nigerians are hungry,” “your agents are killing innocent” and many other inscriptions, the protesters marched on, defying the security presence.

While speaking to newsmen, the protesters demanded the release of all protesters who had been detained since the protest held last year, accusing the government of not being upright.

They stressed that the government should not prosecute only the protesters but also prosecute policemen who shot at protesters adding that they would not back down until all detainees were released.

One of the protesters, Soji Odesola, said youths are tired of the oppression of the government and its agents.

"We are being oppressed by the government and its agents. They killed many people last year and are still keeping some of us incommunicado. We say no to oppression. We say no to dictatorial activities of this government. We reject in totality, the criminal activities of the security agencies, especially the police and the DSS.

"Buhari must do something now. We remember those killed last year. Their blood will continue to haunt Buhari and his security agents. Protest is never a crime in any part of the world and it is not a crime here in Nigeria. We don't why military men were deployed to kill harmless youths who were demanding for their right. This must stop.”
