Nigerian Agency, NEMA Rescues Two From Collapsed 21-Storey Building, Says Casualties Still Unknown

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has rescued two people so far from the collapsed 21-storey building on Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State.
The disaster management agency, however, declined to give figures of deaths that might have occurred, noting that it was still a complex situation.

SaharaReporters had reported earlier today that many people were feared dead following the collapse of the 21-storey building.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, NEMA spokesman, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, said the number of casualties could not be provided as rescue operation was still ongoing.
“Two people have been rescued alive, but I can’t give a figure about casualties now. I cannot tell of casualties at the moment. It’s a complex situation,” Farinloye said.
A video made by Arise News showed sympathisers milling around the collapsed building when the tragedy struck.
One of them could be heard saying, “Even the owner of the house, Mr Gbadebo is there.”
It was reported that while the number of people who died could not be ascertained, many people in the building were believed to have been trapped.
