Newspaper Board / Anambra Lawmaker Empowers Constituents with Cars, Tricycles, Scholarships
« Last post by flukky-1 on Yesterday at 01:01:11 am »The member representing Awka North and Awka South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Oby Orogbu, has empowered over 500 constituents with vehicles, business equipment, vocational tools and educational support. The second phase of the empowerment programme, themed “Empowering Communities, Building Futures,” was held in Awka on Friday. It drew a large crowd of beneficiaries, political leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, religious leaders and party faithful, including the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi.Beneficiaries received cars, shuttle buses, tricycles, motorcycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, deep freezers, 2KVA and 1KVA generating sets, among other items aimed at supporting transportation, small businesses and household income generation. Scholarships were also awarded to deserving students.Speaking at the event, Orogbu, who represents the constituency on the NDC platform, described the programme as her way of appreciating the supporters and constituents who backed her during the 2023 general elections.“Sustainable empowerment remains one of the most effective approaches to tackling poverty, reducing youth unemployment and stimulating grassroots economic development,” she said.“I urge the beneficiaries to make productive use of the items. The empowerment is designed not merely as a welfare package but as an economic intervention capable of improving livelihoods, creating employment opportunities, and enhancing the living standards of families across the Awka North and Awka South Federal Constituency.“Although over 36,000 people voted for me and more than 5,000 supporters actively worked throughout the campaign, it would be practically impossible to accommodate everyone in one phase of the programme. "I therefore urge those who did not benefit in the current phase to remain patient. I assure them that another round of empowerment has already been scheduled for November 2026.”Peter Obi, the special guest of honour, commended Orogbu for what he called purposeful and people-oriented representation. He also praised Senator Victor Umeh for his continued support to the constituency. Obi stressed that genuine leadership should be measured by its impact on people’s lives and called for credible elections in 2027.Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central, described Orogbu as a rare gift to the people of the constituency. He highlighted her contributions through constituency projects, scholarships, road infrastructure and empowerment initiatives, noting that a second term would enhance her capacity to attract more development.Anambra State NDC Chairman Ikem Uzoezie congratulated Orogbu for fulfilling her campaign promises and urged continued support for the party.Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, saying the items would help them establish or expand businesses, create jobs and improve their families’ economic wellbeing.

Newspaper Board / 2027: Nigerians Must Unite to Throw Out Tinubu – Buba Galadima
« Last post by flukky-1 on Yesterday at 01:01:09 am »A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has called on Nigerians to come together and vote out President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.Galadima made the remarks during the inauguration of the NDC National Reconciliation Committee, which was set up to resolve post-primary election disputes ahead of the 2027 polls. He alleged that President Tinubu is making it difficult for other political parties to produce candidates for the elections. According to him, the Electoral Act was designed and perfected by the president even before it was presented to the National Assembly.“Tinubu is only protecting himself and the APC and making it difficult for other parties to produce candidates,” Galadima said.“The president is not thinking of a contest with anybody, but we won’t allow it. Even if it’s an empty coffin, all Nigerians must come together and throw him out for the sake of this country.”
