USA legend Alex Morgan has publicly invited Taylor Swift to attend one of her football matches before aiming a cheeky dig at American football.

Global pop star Swift hit the headlines in recent weeks as speculation grew over her romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Swift has now been spotted in attendance at a host of Kelce’s NFL games confirming a romance was blossoming.

The Grammy Award-winning star was recently pictured in New York alongside Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds, as Kelce’s Chiefs took on the New York Jets.

It prompted Wrexham chief Humphrey Ker to send out a plea to get the singer-songwriter to the Racecourse Ground to take in a League Two fixture.

But now Swift has an offer a little closer to home if she opts to continue her sporting roadshow.

That’s because USWNT star Morgan has handed Swift, who she’s met previously, the chance to watch a game in the plush surroundings of California instead.

On the table is an open offer for Swift to watch pal Morgan line up for a San Diego Wave fixture after their NWSL Shield win.

And Morgan used the invitation to aim a cheeky dig at the NFL in the process.

“There’s an open invitation always,” Morgan told reporters when asked if Swift could make an appearance at a future game. “I mean, American football games are fun but real football is even more fun.”

The 34-year-old soccer phenomenon was quick to pick a side in the ongoing debate of the sport’s correct address.

With American’s claiming the sport is called soccer, a notion opposed in many countries around the world, Morgan has clearly let her footballing roots do the talking.

Morgan is a two-time World Cup winner who lifted the Champions League during her stint with Lyon in 2017. She also had a short-lived spell at Tottenham in 2020.
