Bundesliga champion Jeremie Frimpong has got Aston Villa fans dreaming of the unthinkable this summer.

The flying full-back has proved instrumental in Bayer Leverkusen winning their first German top-flight title.

With 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season, the 23-year-old has established himself as one of the most exciting defenders in world football.

It has been claimed that the Netherlands international has a £34million release clause in his contract that becomes active this summer.

And a return to England could commence, with Frimpong a product of Manchester City‘s youth academy before leaving for Celtic in 2019.

Villa fans have been left hoping it’s them that secures his services following a social media video that has gone viral.

In a clip that has been doing the rounds online, Frimpong could be seen dancing while wearing Villa‘s home jersey from this season.

The reason being for him donning the shirt is that it boasted his ex-Leverkusen teammate Moussa Diaby’s name on.

Frimpong and Diaby spent two-and-a-half years together at the BayArena, before the Frenchman made the move to the Midlands last summer.

Still, the Villa faithful have jokingly urged the winger – and fellow forward Leon Bailey who played alongside Frimpong for six months before joining the Villans – to try and convince the right-back to sign.

Taking to X, one user said: “If Moussa Diaby helps bring Frimpong to Villa he needs a £5m bonus I think.”

Another messaged: “Need agents Leon and Moussa.”

A third added: “Work wonders Moussa.”

This fan then simply stated: “G’wan Agent Diaby!”

And this supporter quipped: “Following Bailey and Diaby to Villa.”

Frimpong is set to be at the centre of a transfer tussle this summer with Europe’s leading clubs believed to be keen on landing him.

Manchester United are known to be long-term admirers, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona also interested.

Arsenal have also been linked with a transfer, with it remaining to be seen whether Frimpong will follow Xabi Alonso in deciding to remain at Leverkusen.
