Brazil have confirmed that Neymar is available to return to action at the World Cup following his ankle injury.

The 30-year-old missed their last two matches of Group G as he recovered on the sidelines, but could now be set to make a comeback for his country against South Korea in the Round of 16.

Neymar was taken off injured late on in their opening 2-0 win against Serbia, and it was soon revealed that he would not make a return until at least the knockout stages.

Pictures posted on social media showed the Paris Saint-Germain star’s swollen ankle whilst he tried to return to full fitness.

However, Brazil have now been given a boost ahead of their next match as boss Tite confirmed the forward’s imminent return.

“Yes, he will be available,” said the boss.

“He will train with us this afternoon, if everything goes well, he will play.”

Neymar’s father, Neymar Santos Sr, recently spoke to talkSPORT’s Jim White about his son, and was full of optimism despite the injury.

“I believe Neymar will be in the field again in the final match and he’ll do the best to win the World Cup together with his colleagues in the Brazilian team,” he said.

“He’ll do the best to help them and together win the competition.”

Despite the absence of one of their star players, Brazil somewhat cruised to the knockout stages of the World Cup.

They beat Serbia and Switzerland to guarantee their progression to the Round of 16, but fell to a shock late defeat against Cameroon in their final group match.

It remains to be seen if Neymar starts against South Korea on Monday, but his return will give Brazil a much needed boost as they eye a sixth World Cup title.
