Manchester City return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to Burnley this Saturday.

City are just one point ahead of Liverpool in the title race and need a win to keep the Reds behind them.

Guardiola’s side could only manage a goalless draw in their last Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace, which allowed Liverpool to close the gap at the top.

Meanwhile, Burnley are in deep relegation trouble and are four points from safety.

They have only won three games all season and can’t simply write this match off. They need the points if they are to stay up.

But recent history is massively against them as the Citizens have won the last nine fixtures against Burnley in all competitions, and in that time, they have scored 32 goals and conceded just one.

Burnley v Man City: Team news

Burnley don’t expect to have their captain Ben Mee back to face City as he is still recovering from a knee problem, while his replacement Nathan Collins was sent off against Brentford, meaning he will miss the clash.

This means that Republic of Ireland international Kevin Long is likely to fill in for the Clarets.

Burnley will also be without Johann Berg Gudmundsson and will assess Erik Pieters and Matej Vydra.

The away side could have problems in the centre of defence, with Ruben Dias still injured and John Stones a doubt for the match.

Dias is still recovering from a hamstring injury suffered at the start of this month, while Stones withdrew from the starting XI of England’s game against Switzerland on Saturday.

If Stones misses the match, Guardiola will be left with Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake as first-team centre-backs.

Raheem Sterling suffered a dead leg during the Three Lions’ win over Ivory Coast, but you would think he will be fine for Saturday.
