Jude Bellingham has been Borussia Dortmund’s best midfielder this season and should be considered for England ahead of Euro 2020, talkSPORT has been told.

Bellingham was signed by the Bundesliga club in the summer for an initial £25million, fending off interest from Manchester United to sign the then-Birmingham City starlet.

It was a remarkable fee for a player who was barely 17 at the time but he’s showing what a remarkable talent he is.

Bellingham, who turns 18 in June, has three assists in 18 Bundesliga appearances this season in a side that features the likes of Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho.

Although he’s still developing, European football expert Andy Brassell told talkSPORT that Gareth Southgate should be looking at him for the England squad.

Bellingham did make his senior debut in November but Gareth Southgate is blessed with plenty of midfield options at the moment.

“I think we should (be looking at him for England),” Brassell told Wednesday’s Drive. “I think he’s performed at a very, very high level both in the league and Champions League.

“A lot of Dortmund regulars will tell you he’s been their best midfield player this season. Considering some of the experience around him is pretty amazing.

“He’s still developing but because he’s got that mix of technical skill and non-league background, it really shows up in the toughness of his play.

“It gives him something special and they know they’ve got something special there.”
