Erik ten Hag believes Marcus Rashford will get over his recent England snub and go on to score ‘even more goals’.

The winger was left out of Gareth Southgate’s provisional Euro 2024 squad this week along with other England regulars Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling.

Rashford proceeded to send his best wishes to his Three Lions teammates on Instagram.

But despite speculation over the impact the decision will have on him, Ten Hag believes Rashford can turn the omission into a positive and use it to motivate him.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City, he said: “[Rashford] looks good and that is the career with ups and downs so a down can also be fuel, that is what I see in training.

“He will be highly motivated, he is highly talented. He has already a big career. I am sure he will get over this and get even more goals.”

Rashford has represented England at their last four tournaments, Euro 2016 and 2020 and the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. He’s scored 17 goals for his country in 60 appearances.

This season has seen him struggle for form, though.

He’s found the net just eight times in 40 appearances in all competitions for Man United.

He hasn’t been able to find the back of the net since March 17 in the FA Cup quarter-final win over Liverpool.

As a result, Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon and Chelsea‘s Cole Palmer have made the squad to serve as England’s options of the left of their attack instead.

For now, Rashford will be focusing on Man United’s only chance of silverware and qualifying for Europe this season at Wembley on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag also confirmed they would be without Harry Maguire for the FA Cup final, which is live on talkSPORT.
