Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance for Portugal has got the world talking once again, especially Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo led the Portuguese national team to a 3-2 victory in their World Cup opener against Ghana on Thursday, with the 37-year-old bagging the opener from the penalty spot.

For fans of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner it was great to see him letting his feet do the talking as he celebrated his goal with his trademark ‘Siuu’ celebration.

In a stroke of fortune, Ronaldo’s celebration happened in front of a flag featuring the face of historic rival Lionel Messi, who had been a part of a shock defeat to Saudi Arabia just days earlier.

With one image appearing to show Messi’s face looking at Ronaldo in awe, Morgan was quick to point this out to his 8million Twitter follows.

He tweeted: “Even Messi knows,” with a goat emoji.

The comment comes after Ronaldo attracted headlines around the world in recent weeks following his bombshell interview with the TalkTV host in which he took aim at Manchester United, Erik ten Hag, the Glazer family and even club legends such as Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney.

Since then, Ronaldo has left Old Trafford by mutual consent, leaving him to focus on his football at the World Cup in Qatar.

With a goal in the World Cup opener meaning that he is the first male player to score in five World Cups.

Now that Portugal are up and running, Ronaldo will surely be hoping to go deep into the competition and even challenge for the trophy itself.
