Former Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick is in talks over taking the Bayern Munich job, talkSPORT understands.

Thomas Tuchel will leave the Bundesliga giants at the end of the season. Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is also on Bayern Munich’s shortlist, but Rangnick is the frontrunner.

The German took over from caretaker manager Michael Carrick at Old Trafford in November 2021 following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Man United finished the season in sixth place with 58 points, the worst points-total record in their Premier League history.

Rangnick was then snapped up by the Austria national team on a two-year deal in April 2022, with him contract beginning in June.

The 65-year-old has also managed RB Leipzig, Schalke, Hoffenheim, Hannover 96 and VfB Stuttgart.

Meanwhile, other target De Zerbi, who has led Brighton to their first ever European campaign after guiding the Seagulls to finish six last term, has also been linked with the soon-to-be vacant Liverpool job.

However, those rumours have petered out in recent weeks.

Next season will mark a huge campaign for Bayern, given they’ll be looking to bounce back from losing their first Bundesliga title race since 2012.

Bayer Leverkusen are currently 14 points clear of second place Bayern at the top of the German top flight.

That’s despite England captain Harry Kane firing in 33 goals and registering 10 assists in the Bundesliga.

They are still in the Champions League, though, with a semi-final against Real Madrid taking place next week.

Bayern confirmed current manager Tuchel will be leaving at the end of the season in February.

The former Chelsea manager had led Bayern to the title last term.
