We have been lucky enough to see some of the best goal scorers in football history in recent years.
And now there are new talents emerging with Erling Haaland in Dortmund and Kylian Mbappe in Paris racking up extraordinary numbers.
Mohamed Salah is enjoying another fine season at Liverpool, Robert Lewandowski is his usual lethal self and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is showing no signs of slowing down at 40 years old.
There’s no right or wrong answer in deciding who the best finisher in the game is, so how can we separate them, talkSPORT hears you ask?
Well, what about ranking them by their best season for goals and assists, beginning with the Real Madrid striker who is having one of his best campaigns.
=10. Karim Benzema (Real Madrid 2021/22) 33 goals and assists in 25 games so far
Of those 33 contributionsin LaLiga, 22 have been goals and 11 are assists.
Benzema is proving to be the shining light for Real Madrid in their pursuit of the league and Champions League double.
What is even more remarkable is that he is 34, but like a fine wine, the striker is getting better the older he gets. He is likely to surpass his best goal scoring season – the 2015/16 season – in which he scored 24 times in 27 games.
=10. Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund 2020/21) 33 goals and assists in 28 games
Aged just 21, the striker has been ripping the Bundesliga apart since signing for Borussia Dortmund in January 2020 from Red Bull Salzburg.
And that form was on display last season where he guided Dortmund to third in the league, and German Cup glory with 27 goals and six assists.
With his £68million release clause soon to be active, some, if not all of Europe’s top clubs will be keen on his services.
Whoever signs him will have one of the best strikers in the world in their team for a long time.
8. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur, 2020/21) 37 goals and assists in 35 games
Whilst he hasn’t been able to secure trophies with his club, Kane has collected numerous individual awards.
Last season in particular he became just the third player in the history of the Premier League to win the Golden Boot and Playmaker awards with 14 assists and 23 goals.
7. Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain, 2018/19) 40 goals and assists in 29 games
With blistering pace, Mbappe is leaving defences in his wake, and even though his club haven’t quite lived up to expectations, he has.
Particularly in the 2018/19 season where against Lyon, he single handedly dismantled them, by scoring four goals and providing an assist in a 5-0 win. In all he scored 33 times and created seven.
Real Madrid fans will be licking their lips next season as he is widely expected to join the club upon the expiration of his contract.

6. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, 2017/18) 42 goals and assists in 36 games
Coming in from Roma, none would have expected Salah to have the impact he did in the Premier League.
He played 36 times in the 2017/18 season and scored 32 goals, registering 10 assists.
If his time at Anfield is to be coming to an end, amid a stall in him signing a new contract, then he will be leaving Reds fans with many happy memories.
5. Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich, 2020/21) 48 goals and assists in 29 games
The prolific Pole could probably find the back of the net more often than not with his eyes closed.
And it was certainly telling in the last campaign where, with 41 goals, he scored more times than games played.
Even though he’s 33, Lewandowski is still crucial for club and country, and is reportedly on Barca president Joan Laporta’s list, who is reportedly willing to pay €60m [£50m] for him.
4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris Saint-Germain, 2015/16) 51 goals and assists in 31 games
He will be 41 this year and still playing at an elite level with Milan in Serie A.
But it was at PSG in the 2015/16 season – his last campaign for the club – where he enjoyed his most prolific campaign.
His 38 goals and 13 assists helped the club nearly break the 100-point barrier as the Parisians steamrolled Ligue 1 to claim a fourth title on the trot.
3. Luis Suarez (Barcelona, 2015/16) 56 goals and assists in 35 games
The sensational Uruguayan often defies physics with the type of goals he scores.
In his time at Liverpool some of the strikes he produced were out of this world and his 31 goals in 33 Premier League games was impressive enough.
However, he outdid himself in the 2015/16 campaign at Barcelona when he won the league and cup with 40 goals and 16 assists.
2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid, 2014/15) 64 goals and assists in 35 games
When the day comes that he hangs his boots up, stories will be told of Ronaldo.
The greatest scorer of all time has simply been unstoppable in his career.
Whether he played on the left, right or up top, Ronaldo ripped opposition back line almost every week, especially the 2014/15 campaign where he netted a staggering 48 goals in 35 games.
But somehow that wasn’t enough to help Los Blancos win the title as they were just edged out by Barca.
1. Lionel Messi (Barcelona, 2011/12) 66 goals and assists in 37 games
Words are beginning to run out to describe the mercurial Argentine.
Even though he’s found life in Paris tough, Messi will go down as one of the greatest players to grace the game.
Even if he’s got five players man-marking him, the 34-year-old still somehow manages to get away, and it showed in the 2011/12 season for Barca.
He scored 50 goals in 37 games and provided 16 for teammates under Pep Guardiola.
