Leeds United’s troubles at the start of 2021 continue as they suffered their third straight defeat in all competitions with a 1-0 loss to Brighton.

And Gabriel Agbonlahor couldn’t resist a dig on social media at the club following the result.

The ex-Aston Villa striker has been making jibes at them all season and Leeds even responded on social media after they won a game.

Agbonlahor even labelled Marcelo Bielsa’s tactics ‘naive’ after their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham earlier this year.

Following the defeat to the Seagulls, Agbonlahor wrote on Twitter, ‘Brighton the best team at Elland Road on a tough pitch’, and shared a picture of a boggy surface in reference to the poor pitch for the game.

He also told Leeds to ‘sort it out’ as ‘this is the Premier League guys, we need Premier league pitches!’

Agbonlahor even bit at the Whites while the match was still ongoing, writing ‘wait not again’ on social media when Neal Maupay scored the opening goal.

It was another defeat for Bielsa’s side and their worst start to a calendar year since 2014, back when Brian McDermott was manager.

It was also three losses in a row in all competitions, just the third time it has happened during his two-and-a-half years as manager at the club.

The three points would have come as a welcome relief for Graham Potter, though, as it was Brighton’s first victory since November.

Neal Maupay gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute after good work in the penalty area from Leandro Trossard and Alexis Mac Allister.

Maupay certainly enjoys playing against Leeds as it was the fourth time he’s scored against them in just five games.

The Seagulls took their 1-0 lead in at half-time but could have been more as they also hit the crossbar through Trossard’s deflected cross.

The state of the pitch undoubtedly hindered Leeds’ normal style of play with plenty of snow in Yorkshire making it fairly boggy in places.

The home side enjoyed plenty of possession but struggled to break down the Seagulls, with Leeds loanee from last season Ben White outstanding in midfield for Brighton.

Shots on goal came at a premium for Bielsa’s side with their first effort on target not coming until the 63rd minute of the game.

Leeds stay where they are in 12th place while Brighton move up to 16th as Burnley were beaten by West Ham.
