Arsenal might just have unearthed a new gem in their famous Hale End academy.

A compilation has emerged on social media of Myles Lewis-Skelly, who put on a superstar performance against Watford in the FA Youth Cup on Monday night.

The 16-year-old played as a lone defensive midfielder where he looked impervious in a clip that has been shared on Twitter.

The video, captioned ‘Hale End is taking over the world soon’, already has nearly 18,000 views and sparked plenty of interest among the Arsenal fanbase, who cannot wait to see another youth product in the first-team in the coming years.

Not only did Lewis-Skelly put on a masterclass defensive performance, but his dribbling and passing through the lines also caught the eye.

Arsenal went on to beat Watford 4-2, including two goals from another top prospect in Amario Cozier-Duberry who netted twice from the penalty spot.

It has been a breakthrough year for Lewis-Skelly at youth level after flying with the Arsenal first-team squad to Dubai in October.

Even at the age of 14, he was turning heads when he was given his debut for the Under-18s – going on to score against Reading after coming on as a sub.

The wonderkid has even trained with the Barbados national team, who he is eligible to play for, as well as being capped for the England Under-16s.

Arsenal’s academy has been responsible for producing some top gems in recent history, including Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah.

And the rest of the Premier League have even benefitted with the likes of Joe Willock, Alex Iwobi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles at Newcastle, Everton and Southampton respectively.

Lewis-Skelly could be the next off the production line, though at the age of 16 there are still some years ahead of him before making an impact in the first-team.

But with Mikel Arteta desperate to sign a defensive midfielder this summer, he could save his money by turning his attention to Hale End.

Two bids were made for Moises Caicedo in January, the last totalling £70million but Brighton turned them down, while West Ham are demanding a nine-figure fee for Declan Rice this summer.

Arsenal signed Jorginho on Deadline Day from Chelsea for £12m instead on an 18-month contract, clearly underlining that the Italian is a stop-gap transfer.

But by the time that deal is up, Lewis-Skelly will be approaching his 18th birthday and, if his progression continues at this rate, it might not be long before he is knocking on the manager’s door.
