Diogo Jota injury update

Jota will be sidelined for at least two weeks.

He will be absent for Liverpool’s huge Merseyside derby away at Everton which is exclusively live on talkSPORT tonight.

The forward is also expected to miss games against West Ham and Tottenham before potentially making a comeback against Aston Villa on May 13.

If that is the case, Jota will only be available for two more games this season, in what could be a huge blow to the Reds’ title hopes.

Jurgen Klopp revealed the bad news on Tuesday, saying: “He scored, felt a little bit (of an injury) and now we found out it’s a bit more.

“He will be out for two weeks.”

It is the latest issue in an injury-plagued campaign for Jota who had only just returned from a ligament tear in his knee.

He had also suffered a muscle problem earlier this season, meaning this is the third injury that he has picked up.

Details of the new injury have not been revealed but Liverpool will be hoping that his recovery goes as planned to get him back for the final fixtures of the run-in.

Jota has scored 10 goals in only 21 league appearances for the club this season, adding another to his tally at the weekend before being substituted.

His absence could now play a big part in upcoming games and may have a major impact on the Premier League title race.
